Garden tour

Document Actions
Experience the diversity of the Steinschaler nature gardens: From a show garden to a kitchen garden for herbs and vegetables, from a water garden to a vivarium (leisure garden).

By nature, we mean not just a well-groomed (English) lawn, or the meticulously maintained beds of Schönbrunn, but living nature, which can equally well be presented in a chaotic and uncultivated state.

The nostalgia garden lies “behind” the main building of the Steinschalerhof, bordering directly on the restaurant area, and offers a sunbathing meadow, a solar-heated open-air swimming pool, a children’s playground with Wendy house, as well as some of our beloved garden houses.

The south garden lies directly in front of the newly-built south building, and is designed as a show garden with numerous different plants on different levels. The winding paths invite you to take a walk, whilst many an idyllic spot offers space to meditate. Part of the south garden is used for producing herbs (classic kitchen herbs and also some wild herbs).

Activity

During the guided tour, the garden design and the extensive garden maintenance using organic and natural methods are explained with reference to practical examples. Nature at the front door is not just a slogan, but a living reality in these gardens. And participants can also take home valuable tips for “lazy gardening”.

The selection of plants in the gardens has a very regional orientation, and includes a strong component for use in the kitchen or for decoration
