Dripstone cave

The
Nixhöhle is located approximately 1 km away from Frankenfels and is one of the
most beautiful natural monuments and one of the biggest tourist attractions in
the province.
Caves, dripstones, deposits of tufa are typical of this region: the
“Kalkalpen”, or limestone alps. The limestone rocks are soft, porous and
permeable. Over millions of years, the effect of the water has resulted in
fantastic rooms and shapes. It is not just the soil and the vegetation, but
even the interior of the mountain that is characterised by the limestone rocks.
