Mh.6 railway club
|
The railway club is based in the Ober-Grafendorf boiler house in the Pielach valley, and is made up of members who spend their free time engaged in the most diverse activities with the nostalgic engines of the Austrian narrow gauge railways, particularly the Mariazellerbahn. Our first objective was the perfect restoration of the Mh.6 steam locomotive (M=Mariazellerbahn, h=hot steam, 6=sixth locomotive in this series), which occupied a group led by the locomotive driver Erich Dürnecker for years and involved about 11,000 hours of work. That formed the germ of this team’s present-day activities.
The team then helped to restore the carriages of the Panoramic 760 tourist train.
The Ober-Grafendorf engine sheds with water tower, turntable with roundhouse are also maintained.
