The Stay bridge in Murau
|
The results of an international contest: The supporting structure of the bridge responds to a height difference of almost 10 metres between the right and left bank of the Mur. It was delivered in two parts and put together on the spot by means of pilots. The walls are made of laminated wood which are laid on the inside of the bridge to keep pedestrians and cyclists apart from each other. Designed by the Swiss Nationals, Meili and Conzett, the stay bridge was awarded the Austrian builders prize in 1996. In the meantime, the stay bridge has been attached to the building that houses the State Department in Murau. The unusual glass architecture of the administration building together with the wooden stay bridge results in an attractive ensemble.
